Chelsea vs Lille Head to head and injury updates

Chelsea and Lille had never met before in European competition prior to this season. We won the away match in this group stage 2-1 with Tammy Abraham and Willian our scorers.
Prior to 2019/20, our two previous meetings were both friendlies in 1950. Lille won the first on their own ground 3-1 in May and the Blues won 3-0 six months later in front of just under 10,000 at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Lille

Chelsea play host to Lille on Tuesday night needing to record a victory in order to book their place in the Champions League last 16.

While securing a 2-2 draw away at Valencia on matchday five was a respectable result, it has left the Blues sitting in third position in Group H.

However, boss Frank Lampard will acknowledge that Chelsea must deliver an improved performance after losing 3-1 at Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest at Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Rudiger

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: December 10 (vs. Lille)
Having taken part in training for a couple of weeks after surgery last month, Rudiger is said to be on the brink of making a return to the squad. However, given the significance of this game, it would come as a surprise if the German is provided with his return on Tuesday evening.

Reuben Loftus-Cheek

Status: Out
Type of injury: Achilles
Possible return date: Unknown
Lampard has recently revealed that Loftus-Cheek has suffered a setback in his bid to recover from an Achilles injury. The Blues are yet to pencil in a potential return date for the midfielder.
